The day following the rain was
clear and cold, with frost on the ground. As the sun warmed the earth, the
moisture rose up and created fog in the valleys. I spent the morning outside
- it was so crisp the colors seemed to shimmer.
Most of us elect to be outside today - out in
the fields, warming in the sun, dozing under a tree, sketching on a hill.
|

I saw the sunrise most mornings, but this one was
especially lovely.
|
|

The moisture from yesterday's rainfall created a thick veil
of fog this sunny morning.
|

Shadowed fog in the valley appears blue.
|

Like Valeri said, it's as though the clouds are
born at Gela.
|
|

There were lots of people out this morning. This
is a farmer repairing a fence.
|

An old woman walks towards me on the road. We
speak, both smile and wave, but not in the same language.

A farmer walks his cows to pasture.

Another fine sunrise....

The Bulgarian painters do not paint with us in
the studio, they set up in their rooms, individually. I painted with Niki
this morning. He's an art teacher and I wanted to watch him. Also, I painted
with oils, which is new to me. The abstract painting on the left is from our
trip to the gorge. I bought it.

| Lunch was a bad precursor to
dinner. Liver soup. When I saw liver on my plate for dinner, I ordered fried
eggs. We have taken over the restaurant. We have turned out the
lights and placed candles down the length of the table. It's much nicer than
the fluorescents. It's also better for dancing after dinner! |

This is the salad we have for dinner every
night. It's called Shopska, and it's peeled cucumbers, tomatoes, red onions
and feta cheese, with a salty black olive on top. It's served with oil and
vinegar. This is a tiny one!
|

It's a full moon. I leave the dining room early
tonight to set up my tripod and take pictures of the moon. My digital is too
slow, but I use my manual camera, too.
