Travelogue: An Artist's
Journey
Robin Ann Walker's Trip to
Eastern Europe, October 2003 - Page 5. |
| October 5, 2003
Zdravko, the sponsor, sent his cars and drivers to take us on an excursion.
I was in the car, not the van, but in the backseat. Evo was our driver, and
he was a maniac. Anna and I were both sick from the high speeds he took the
switchback road. Thankfully, we had several "photo stops". That's me on the
far left. We're about an hour away from the hotel, and 50 miles from the
Greek border. The landscape totally changed.
We've gone from soft green hilltops to craggy
rock formations. The scale is massive. We visited two caves, and I went
through both of them, all the while proclaiming that I'll never go in
another cave. |

Picnic lunch! We had sandwiches, and peppers
stuffed with a spicy cheese mixture.

|

On the return trip we stopped to photograph this
old man and his mule. He spoke to Valeri at length as I took photos.
|

Next stop was Devin, and we were thrilled to be
in a town. I tried every store looking for a Diet Coke. No luck. Anna found
a market and bought some parsley. It was the only green vegetable we could
find.
