| October 14-15, 2003, Plovdiv
The "Westerners" of us were happy to be back in a city
with services, food, and things to buy.
Michelle had an early flight out on the 14th, Judy and
Nancy headed out on the bus to Istanbul the same day, and Carol and I took
the bus to Istanbul on the 15th. |

Me in the Centrum, the center of town, which
houses the amphitheater. It is a gathering place for locals and for vendors.
Lots of artwork displayed.
|

The steps of the amphitheatre. This is almost
all that's left of this ancient architectural structure.

Another view of the center of town.

Since I would be traveling
for 2 more weeks, I packed up a big box with everything I didn't need
and sent it back home. It was a large box and quite an ordeal to mail. I
didn't have enough Bulgarian money to send it, and had to go to the ATM,
in the rain, minutes before the bus came to take me and Carol to
Istanbul. This is Valeri in front of the post office.

Bill, Carol, Zdravko, his driver, Nelly and
Valeri in front of our hotel, saying goodbye. Anna was there, too, but
didn't get in the picture.
Carol and I headed out,
leaving Bill and Anna to stay a few more days in Bulgaria. |
On the bus from Plovdiv,
Bulgaria, to Istanbul, Turkey.
A new adventure begins.
Keep reading to see the artwork that was produced and
shown in the US. |
